Untamed Lens is the creative home of Peter Flindell - an untamed wanderer photographing on the edge.
I first got into photography in my late teens with an Olympus OM-10 shooting Kodachrome 64 in outback Australia. This grew into a hobby as I travelled eastern Indonesia. My camera of choice evolved from a Canon T70 to a Canon EOS 5 and the jungle greens had me switching to Velvia 50. Then it all went pear shaped. A rediscovered youth in my twenties saw my slides filed away and ultimately become home to a multitude of mould species. Sadly, I only realised this in my thirties. A career and wonderful family entertained my creative soul for much of that decade. It continues to do so, but a thirst to expand my horizons has taken my photography to a new level. Entering my forties, I shunned the proverbial Harley for a Nikon D70 and redeveloped the joy of photography. I've recently progressed to a Nikon D2X and a swag of lenses.
While I have an unquenched thirst for wildlife photography, my job places greater demands on my time. Fortunately, it also provides the opportunity to travel to the far ends of Asia where many of the world's disappearing and traditional cultures call home. Documenting these people and cultures is the current focus of my Untamed Lens.
